A Band for All Seasons
The Indianapolis Symphonic Band, Inc. ensembles provide opportunities for the area's finest amateur musicians - teens to retirees - who are serious about maintaining and developing their technical skills and artistry. The musical groups include: the Indianapolis Symphonic Band - an 85-piece concert band; a smaller, variable-sized chamber group; and the Barton Rogers Big Band - a seventeen-piece jazz band; and various self-directed small ensembles. These ensembles serve the community by providing high quality musical entertainment at no charge to its audiences. Each of the three bands has a year-round concert schedule, its own conductor, and each performs at a variety of venues - outdoors and in concert halls - in the Central Indiana area. A total of 30 concerts were performed in 2008 by the bands and small ensembles.
